Had a nightmarish ordeal with this company at the end of 2009 regarding multiple defective memory DIMMs. I had OCZ memory that failed within its warranty period. I returned it to OCZ for replacement (10/12). The cost of shipping the defective memory was on me. Received replacement memory a week and a half later and it was bad out of the box. I contacted OCZ by phone to set up another return. I asked if I now had to pay again to return the “new” defective memory and was told I would not. I was told that all I needed to do was open a case in their online support system and they would expedite the replacement and cover the return costs. I opened a problem ticket as instructed on 10/22. On 10/26 (expedited?) an RMA was issued and I was told that I would indeed have to pay the shipping costs again to return the defective replacement product I received. I called to speak with a manager. The tech put me on hold, then came back and told me the manager told him he was unavailable and would call me when he was free. I never got that call. On 10/27 I was offered a refund, though I had told the tech I purchased the memory through an e-tailer (not directly from the manufacturer) and had provided proof of purchase for the original memory purchased. I asked for an additional confirmation on 10/29 to be certain I could / would receive a refund. I received another confirmation (10/30) that I would absolutely be refunded. On 11/4 I received a third confirmation that I would receive the refund so I sent it in, again paying shipping. When OCZ received my returned memory, OCZ then told me that they would not refund me any money, but I can have replacement memory or some other product from within their product offerings. I had already purchased another vendor’s memory as I could not afford to be without a computer any longer and was told 3 times a refund was forthcoming. I filed a complaint with the BBB. In the end, my options were to sue OCZ or take a product. They would not reimburse me for the shipping as stated and would not provide the refund as stated. I ended up taking memory and worked out a deal with a friend who bought it from me. This was the only way I could recoup at least some of my losses without potentially incurring the added expense of a lawyer. So, after a month long ordeal, that’s how it ended. My understanding is that OCZ has this complaint listed as “satisfied” as I “accepted” their replacement product. Believe me when I tell you I am nowhere close to satisfied. I will never buy another product from this company and will advise anyone who is considering doing so to rethink it.
