In may of 2010 i went into apple to have my hinge on my macbook replaced as it was loose but still covered under my 2 year applecare warranty. I was told my laptop would need to be sent out and replaced and i would loose all my data and needed to purchase an external hard drive in order to back up my data. i paid the extra money and purchased one and went home to back up my data. i use this laptop every day for work so to find time to have it go out for work or to be replaced is very difficult. With that I came in just today and asked for my hinge to be replaced. I was told by the rep that because my mousepad now had damage to it that i was no longer covered under the warranty and i would have to pay the full amount to have my screen replaced for the hinge that was loose. He checked the records and saw that in May there was no damage other then my hinge on my computer. But since apple might possibly have to still replace the entire computer for the hinge issue, and now that there was more damage to the laptop, it would not be covered. So in May they were fine with replacing the entire laptop but now that there was more damage they were not ok with it? How does that make any sense. Going further, he said he could now fix it in house. But just in May they could not fix in house and i had to buy an external hard drive to back up my data and wait to be sent out. Now they can fix it in house and coincidentally it now wont be covered under warranty? I would have had it fixed then if it could have been done. Sounds like the rep in may was incompetent and not trained properly and cost me extra money for a hard drive and time and now my warranty. So a manager comes out and tells me that i am out of warranty because of the extra damage. I tell them that's fine, and I will pay for the mouse pad but I want my hinge fixed since its notated in the account that there was nothing wrong with it in may but the hinge and all i need is a new screen. Just replace the screen (since they can do it in house) under the warranty since the mousepad has no effect on the damage that was previous done and covered under the warranty. He denied it and said there's nothing he can do for me. Does not give me a quote, does not offer any other assistance. This is horrible service and horrible management. All they are doing is looking for loopholes to get out of covering the work and at the same time trying to push more sales on people (such as the hard drive) when it is not needed. This company deserves an F Rating.
